2b has hosted an Emerging Artist-in-Residence for the past ten seasons. Through this program, artists are invited to observe and participate in creation processes and are offered formal mentorship on their own creative projects over the course of roughly one year. Click here for more information about the program’s history.
The residency will look different this year. It could start as early as June, or it could start later. Depending on the candidate, some activities may be possible while social distancing. This residency will be flexible to accommodate both the interests and needs of the candidate and the realities of the world we find ourselves in.
Residencies may focus on any aspect of theatre. We welcome applications from writers, directors, performers, designers, and production personnel/ technicians.
Candidates will have completed their first phase of formal training (undergraduate degree or equivalent) and have less than five years professional experience in theatre. If you don’t have formal training but feel you might be a good candidate for this program, we encourage you to apply and detail in your cover letter how your experience has prepared you for this residency.
Applicants must be 35 years old or younger to meet our funder’s eligibility criteria.
This is a part time paid position. The position is flexible and is shaped by the interests and needs of the successful candidate. 2b will support the successful candidate in developing additional funding applications, if they choose to do so.
2b welcomes the contributions that individuals from marginalized communities bring to our organization.
To apply, please send an expression of interest to email@example.com with “Emerging Artist-in-Residence” in the subject line. This expression of interest should explain why you would like to work with 2b, in what capacity (or capacities) you would like to be involved with our upcoming projects, and a bit of information about how you think 2b could support the work you are making. This can take any form you like (letter, video, audio recording, etc). You are also welcome to submit a resume and/or sample of past work, if you feel it would be useful to do so.
Deadline: 10 am April 20 2020
