2b theatre company is looking for one 2nd and one 3rd year student to join our team as Student Reps!
Student Reps are a voluntary role that work as a vital liaison between 2b and the university community. For this semester their responsibilities may include assisting in communicating to the student community about 2b events, facilitating talk-backs at shows, and gathering data from their peers on what workshops 2b can provide for students in the future!
The student rep program had been put on hold throughout the pandemic, but we are excited to be restarting it this year more minimally, with a vision towards growing the program next year!
This year, we are seeking one student in their 2nd year, and one in their 3rd year to join on as our Reps for the remainder of the 2022-23 school year, and stay on for the school year in 2023-24 (for their 3rd / 4th year).
Our hope is that our then-3rd year Student Rep will stay on for even one more year, into their 4th year in 2024-25, and will help us to choose a new 3rd year partner to work alongside them and succeed them after that.
This year’s Student Reps will have a much smaller focus. Working from February to April alongside our outreach staff at 2b to plan several student events in coordination with 2b’s month-long takeover at the Bus Stop Theatre. A medley of workshops, presentations and events which we’re calling our 2b SPRINGboard.
The exact nature of the student events will be visioned and created by our Student Reps! And we will be excited to work with you to hear what you’d like to see offered and help make it happen. We are currently thinking of coordinating 2 invited student nights to shows happening in April, 1 student social night, and potentially up to 2 workshops as chosen by the reps.
Then, with any remaining weeks left before the end of Semester 2, we’ll spend some time thinking about how we might grow the program more fully for next school year.
If you are interested in becoming a Student Rep with 2b, please send us an expression of interest! A simple informal one-page describing a little about yourself, your interest in joining, and why you think you’d make a good asset to the team. Expressions of Interest can be e-mailed to applications@2btheatre.com
Expressions of Interest for Student Reps will be due by Friday, February 3rd. 2b Staff will select and contact successful candidates by February 6th to begin meeting straightaway. Our work can largely be done virtually or in person, as needed by the team!
The 2b Student Rep positions are volunteer basis, and as such there are no prescribed working hours required. We will work around your class schedule as needed to achieve our project goals, and give you the most out of your experience!
The 2b SPRINGboard will run at the Bus Stop Theatre from March 27th to April 23rd, with potential for events throughout this entire month stretch. We will be excited to begin in February with our Student Reps to plan and execute various student initiatives!
