2b theatre company seeks candidates for a Canada Summer Jobs contract position: Summer Event Coordinator. The successful candidate will work alongside 2b’s staff for a 9-week contract to design, coordinate and execute a new July fundraiser planned by 2b. This position offers experience in event planning and management, with opportunities to gain connections and experience in the arts community of Kjipuktuk/Halifax and beyond.

HOURS: 30 hours/week, 9 weeks
PAY: $20/hour

Responsibilities:
In collaboration with and support from all staff (Executive Director, Artistic Director, Managing Director, Director of Development and Communications, and the Administration and Outreach Manager), the Event Coordinator will manage a wide range of tasks related to planning and executing 2b’s new summer fundraising event (taking place on either July 7th or 14th). Including:
-Creating and managing scheduling of the event
-Being the central person for communication, oversight and organization of all event information and tasks
-Coordinating all logistics related to the event, including venue management, event equipment, food and beverage, and tech equipment
-Managing the event budget and receipt reconciliation
-Supporting and communicating with artists and performers for the event
-Creating and managing event ticketing and box office
-Coordinating local volunteers and hired staff for the event
-Supporting the Fundraising Committee in their sponsorship goals and needs
-Supporting the creation of press releases, social media posts, and other promotional materials
-Working with 2b’s database system (Keela) to track donations at the event
-Potentially, coordinating a Silent Auction alongside staff to run at the event

Qualifications / Required Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate will:
-Have detail oriented skills and and a passion for organization
-Work well under pressure and within the event’s deadlines
-Have proficiency with organizational tools in G-Suite; Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets
-Have proficiency with maintaining and organizing information in a database (Keela)
-Be self-motivated and have confidence to work independently
-Be able to coordinate and lead a team of volunteers; be a strong team player
-Have good time management skills, and the ability to multitask and to prioritize tasks
-Have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
-Have clean record-keeping and reporting skills
-Have some knowledge of non-profit organizations and/or the performing arts world in Kjipuktuk/Halifax

-Applicant needs to have a Class 5 Drivers License

As this position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
-Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at time of hiring
-Be a Canadian citizen
-Be legally entitled to work in Canada (you must have a valid Social Insurance Number)
