2b theatre company seeks candidates for a contract position: Special Events Coordinator.

The successful candidate will complete an 9-week contract designing and executing a new summer fundraiser for 2b, with guidance from 2b’s Director of Management and Communications Teams.

Tasks include planning and devising the new community event, coordinating local volunteers and sponsors, liaising with 2b’s board of directors (who support the event planning process), writing sponsorship applications, press releases, collaborating on social media posts and other promotional materials, and general administrative tasks. The Special Events Coordinator will also be responsible for creating dialogue with new sponsors.

This job offers career-related relationships and experience to an emerging professional pursuing a future in Arts Administration or Management.

HOURS: 30 hours/week, 9 weeks
PAY: $20/hour

Responsibilities:
In collaboration with and support from staff (Artistic Director, Associate Artistic Director, General Manager, Admin + Communications Coordinator, and Development Manager), the Special Events Coordinator will manage a wide range of tasks related to planning and executing 2b’s new summer fundraising event.

Including:
Lead the planning and execution of the fundraising event
Coordinate with local volunteers and sponsors
Support writing sponsorship applications
Support writing press releases
Collaborate on social media posts and other promotional materials
Create dialogue with new sponsors
Liaise as needed with 2b’s board of directors (who support the event planning process)
General administrative tasks
Qualifications / Required Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate will:
-Have detail oriented skills and and a passion for organization
-Work well under pressure and within the event’s deadlines
-Have proficiency with organizational tools in G-Suite; Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets
-Have proficiency with maintaining and organizing information in a database (Keela)
-Be self-motivated and have confidence to work independently
-Be able to coordinate and lead a team of volunteers; be a strong team player
-Have good time management skills, and the ability to multitask and to prioritize tasks
-Have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
-Have clean record-keeping and reporting skills
-Have reliable transportation to and from the building at 6086 Quinpool Road
-Have some knowledge of non-profit organizations and/or the arts community in Kjipuktuk/Halifax
Eligibility Requirements:
As this position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria
-Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
-Be a Canadian citizen
-Be legally entitled to work in Canada (which means you must have a valid Social Insurance Number).
