Are the dog days of summer starting to get to you? Do you need a getaway? Too bad! 2b theatre company needs YOU (and your money)!
On Wednesday, August 12th, crawl on the blistering asphalt to Stillwell Brewing on Kempt Road for PaloozaPalooza: cold beer, live music from local musical acts Pillow Fite and Moira & Claire, and your chance to dunk one of 2b theatre company’s co-directors in the PaloozaPalooza dunk tank!
Have more money than you know what to do with? 2b will take it! Buy a VIP ticket for Bites & Flights: a guided beer tasting with catered bites.
Our friends at The ATomic Dog will also be on site with their food truck, ready to serve up a delicious menu of burgers and dogs.
If that still isn’t enough for you, 2b will take straight-up donations! That’s right – you’ll get nothing in return except 2b’s undying gratitude (and a charitable receipt for your income taxes). Space is limited, so buy your tickets today!
In all seriousness, it’s no secret that this is a very challenging time for arts organizations in Nova Scotia. 30% of 2b theatre company’s operating budget has been slashed by the provincial government’s cruel and short-sighted budget cuts. PaloozaPalooza is 2b’s way of trying EVERYTHING to recoup even a small fraction of what’s being taken away.
“PaloozaPalooza is all the fundraisers, jammed into one,” says 2b Artistic Director Christian Barry. “It’s live music, it’s beer, it’s delicious food, it’s raffle baskets, it’s a live auction, it’s a silent auction, it’s a 50/50 draw, there’s a dunk tank. It’s going to be a great night, and it’s all in the service of raising funds to allow 2b theatre company to continue to make new works, here in Halifax, that we tour all around the world.”
PaloozaPalooza is inspired by LobsterPalooza, 2b’s former annual garden party fundraiser which ran from 2008 – 2019. LobsterPalooza brought ticketholders out to a gorgeous private residence at Herman’s Island for an afternoon of live music, swimming, and a seafood buffet.
About Moira & Claire
The intricate harmonies of sisters Moira and Claire first rang out from the backseat of the family car on cross-country road trips when they were kids. They’ve come a long way since, but the strong sibling bond of their musical chemistry remains the same. Their songwriting is full of subtle sophistication, perfectly unexpected moments, and hard-won lyrical wisdom. The clever simplicity they’re able to draw out of life’s complexities makes for honest, intimate, and relatable songs that have connected with thousands of people globally. On stage, the duo’s authenticity, sense of humour and natural charisma is magnetic – compelling harmonies paired with whip-smart lyrics create a live experience that’s emotionally vulnerable, sometimes funny, and always relatable.
